Having first hand experience with Buchla 259s, I will just say that
tracking is not everything. There are features to the design, range
and performance of the 259 that far outweigh any short comings in
tracking. As Peter Grenader points out for his VCO based on the
Buchla 258 "It's designed use is more geared toward 'what goes up,
may go sideways' electronic music and not so much for realizing your
favorite Bach tocatta. There are scads of VCOs on the market for this
already. While they may track to a larger range, cannot conjure the
timbral pleasures of the Model 15."
I say vote for the 259!
