Hi Thomas,
how extreme like Merzbow/Masonna/Whitehouse
well, I use mine for noise, although usually not that "extreme" i guess, so
ask any questions. I would suggest I little Doepfer and a little
Blacet/Frac Rack.
the wave multiplier is probably a good bet, but I went for this one instead
after waiting months on the Doepfer(usa distribution problems):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ViewItem&category=38071&item=3743072703
&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
and it is amazing, my favorite module right now... it's close to a Serge
clone... not sure how the Doepfer compares.
Also, you need a ring mod, but I don't care for the doepfer one, here is the
best I've found:
http://cgs.synth.net/modules/cgsrr.html
and it's cheap but passive so you could easily solder it to a doepfer
multiple or build your own VERY easily-- no power just connect to 3 jacks.
I haven't really cared for the Doepfer filters i've had... includidn the
A107 morph, ... I guess that's why I sold my Xpander also... for more
extreme things anyway... just not their strong point I guess, the Analogue
Solutions SY02 is a great, MS20 clone. and the Blacet Filthy Filtre is well
suited. Perhaps the new vactrol Steiner and LPG from Doepfer will be great!
The Doepfer A-136 is great! don't miss it! also the Doepfer A-118
noise/rand.
The A-155 seq + A154 controller is also great.... the ability to insert a
any mod source at each step makes it unique!
too many..and the PLL, A-149, and things like VCA's and the a-133
Polarizer are essential, and the new quad AD would be a good way to go.
Also, if you add the frac rack you can use Wiard goodies like the Noise
Ring! and Blacet's Binary Zone. .... it's endless... and really the way you
want to use them I think any module can work... as they all have many
possibilities.
best,
phil
