hi list,
what's your opinion on these :
synthfreak: "thanks for the info about the comb.
filter, but you still didn't answer my
question...should i make a poll about it i think it
would make sense to have a single module combining
several notch filters to make a comb.filter, don't you
think so "
dieter doepfer:
"The term "Comb filter" is a very general term (like
low pass). Before a poll is started you should specify
the type of comb filter. A phasing type comb filter is
already available (A-125). A flanger type comb filter
could be realized e.g. with a digital or analog delay.
I'm not sure if a comb filter with many notches will
make sense at it would very expensive as you need the
complete filter electronics (e.g. the electronics of
A-121 or A-124) for each notch. I don't think that we
would sell many of such an expensive module. I think
it is the better solution to use the filters of your
system. This might be a little bit more expensive but
is much more versatile as the filter modules can be
used for other purposes (low pass, band pass, high
pass) too. The price for a module with e.g. 4 notches
would be about 75% of four A-124 but would have not
the features of four A-124. It would be limited to the
notch function. From my point of view this would not
make much sense - but may be the community has a
different opinions. Only a flanger type comb filter
might be interesting. But at the moment we are not
able to develop such a filter as the bucket bridge
devices used in such filter are not available at
reasonable prices. We think about a digital delay but
there are so many low cost digital delay available at
the market that we are not sure if we should add
another of these devices. We think it makes more sense
to invest our developing resources in devices that
are not available now."
so...what do you think
my opinion is that a FLANGER TYPE COMB FILTER would be
nice to have(of course, not in a very high
price...),ideas
