hello,
last weekend i've received some new modules.
sorry for not doing the a107 examples, but
i had to try my new modules first. i hope
you all understand ;-) i'll do the a107
examples during this week.
a101/1 multitype input vcf (steiner filter)
-------------------------------------------
a very interesting filter with unusual capabilities.
the resonance is colorful, going more into the direction
of the a106 prototype then into the cem-area.
marvelous timbres can be achieved by feeding different
sound sources into each audio input. i have to use the
a101/1 a couple of times in order to say more.
anyway the first impression is a very cool one :-)
a101/2 lowpass gate
-------------------
what a nice module. especially the filter mode and the
combined filter+vca mode sounds great. it has such
a smooth, soothing organic quality and the resonance
control allows nice coloring of the signal. this is a
great feature unavailable in the original buchla design.
in vca mode there is always a bit of a signal feedthrough,
which is not noticable in the other two modes.
afaik this is because of the characteristics of the
vactrols and a known side-effect. no problem imho,
it's the sound that counts. now i understand why the
buchla lowpass gate has such a good reputation.
i need to buy another one soon.
a138c polarizing mixer
----------------------
a very handy module. it is so cool to have bipolar mixing
and offset control. mixing waveforms from one vco or lfo
leads to new waveforms and the offset option adds so much
functionality to the mixer for cv processing.
a very handy module and quite unexpensive for the
possibilities it can open. absolutely recommended.
i bet if you have one, you'll wish to have more of these.
psu2
----
much better than the old one.
i always had problems with my a199 and hum induced
by the power supply. now that i've mounted my a199
inside a new frame with psu2, all the problems had
gone. no hum and buzz anymore.
best wishes
