hello,
<< What is doepfer going to do about the shortage of
CEM 3340 chips >>
I don't think that you have anything to worry about,
yet. It seems that Paul Schreiber of Synthesis
Technology has plenty of 3340s available, even after
allotting for some sort of failure rate on non-tested
NOS chips.

<< and is there going to be a new high end VCO design
comming out. >>
Only Dieter and company can answer this. There is
certainly a "Buchla-ish" design but check the archives
for why it might not be released or why it might
mutate into something else. Note the use of the words
"why" as this is simply speculation.
<< Also there is so much talk about the sound of
different filters, but what about the sound of
different VCO designs. One could imagine that
some VCOs have more body and character than others. >>
Yes that's certainly true, every instrument or module
has its own sound. Some people think the A-110 sounds
looser and more animated while some people like how
the A-111 track better, is more precise (good for
analog FM) and really cuts through a mix. I like both
depending on the situation. Your mileage may vary...
Thanks,
Shawn Cleary
