hello gino,
i did some comparisons with the a106 prototype and an ms20
months ago. i'd say that they are near relatives, but
the a106 is not an exact clone. and that is good, because the
a106 offers a much wider variety of sounds. the a106 can
produce sounds which cannot be done with an ms20 filter
or any other filter i know, but it can of course reproduce
almost all flavours of original ms20 filtering (especially if
you have two a106). the differences between the ms20 filters
and the a106 are small, but it is difficult to compare
them anyway, because each ms20 sounds a bit different
compared to each other. the a106 is my favorite when it
comes to filtering of drums and percussion.
when adjusted carefully, you can turn totally harmless sounds
into electronic monsters with these filters.
best wishes
ingo

and it sure is a perky little devil. A wide range of sounds are
available, and timbrally it's very pleasing. Has anyone a/b'd it to
an MS20 Not that I care if it sounds exactly the same for my
purposes, but I'd be curious to learn how they differ sonically.

(have only had my system a few weeks, and not enough time using it
yet), but so far this is my favorite filter (and enjoying the lowpass
gate as well).
