hello,
here is my first attempt for the patching contest:
http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100patchcontest/seamonster/Fake-
Hydrophone.mp3
fake-hydrophone is a "two component patch".
the first component is the background noise
and runs along without interaction.
i used the following modules for that:
1x a101/2, 1x a118, 1x a137, 1x a138b
a118 white noise --> a137 signal input
a137 output --> a138b input 1
a118 red noise --> a138b input 2
a138b output --> a101/2 signal input (lp+vca mode)
a101/2 output --> to mixing desk
the second component is the faked sea voice.
it is played with one hand, by diming the
light falling on an a179 module.
i used the following modules for the patch:
1x a101/1, 1x a101/2, 1x a111, 1x a138a,
1x a140, 1x a147, 1x a179
a179 inv cv output --> a147 cv input
a179 cv output --> a138a input 1
a179 gate output --> a140 gate input
a140 output --> a101/2 cv input 2
a147 triangle --> a138a input 2
a138a output --> a111 cv 2 input
a111 narrow pulse --> a101/1 lowpass input
a101/1 output 2 --> a101/2 signal input (vca mode)
a101/2 output --> to mixing desk
those who know real hydrophone recordings will
probably find that the result is not too authentic,
especially the background noise sounds different.
i think that the voice of the sea creature is
somewhere between the voice of orcas and dolphins.
maybe it would add to the "playability" of the patch
to use a ribbon controller instead of the
light-controlled a179. i have to try that next time :-)
best wishes
