Hi,
I found a very instructive text about the "ROHS" on the servers of farnell:
German
http://217.160.70.102/rohs/rohs-index.html
english
http://uk.farnell.com/static/en/rohs/infobank/expert-comment/Lead-free-intro.html
for other languages (don't know, whether it exists in all languages):
goto www.farnell.com -> select your language -> select site map -> select in the area of "support" the link to ROHS
The most interesting thing for Doepfer might be, that this is a "directive", not a law. A directive of the european community has to be transfered into national law within a certain time (usually three years; the deadline for this three years is 1st of June 2006). Usually the national parliaments do not get the law up within the right time. The question is, whether Dieter should rely on this fault of our parliaments :-(
Another interesting topic is the following sentence from the directive (Article 2, topic 3):
"3. This Directive does not apply to spare parts for the repair, or to the re-use, of electrical and electronic equipment put on the market before 1 July 2006"
Perhaps one could define the vintage based devices as "re-use of electronic equipment".
Regards, Florian
