Your comment " I thought we have enough filters. But who knows ....." is, in my opinion, basically correct.

The only reason I could envisage another filter is if it provided something so different from what is already available to make it worth the time and effort of development.

I have my favourite filters like most synth users the 1970's Korg Traveller being a real favourite.

However I think the areas that you are currently experimenting - bringing digital processing into the modular format and the use of Vactrols are areas to expand upon.

Also modules like the excellent complex envelope are what make's playing with a modular system really interesting.

The original Octave Cat filter is nothing but a standard 24dB filter based
on four OTAs (CA3080). I cannot see why it shoud sound so extraordinary. We
"designed" such a filter module already in the nineties when be began the
A-100 (i.e. before this forum was born). But we never published this filter
as the other "early" A-100 filters (A-120, A-121, A-122) sounded much better
from our point of view. But in the meantime there is a demand for even
special, strange or "bad" sounding filters (like the A-124 Wasp filter or
the A-106-1 Extreme filter) as the user's taste has changed. E.g. we payed
attention in the beginning to avoid distortion for audio processing modules
(e.g. VCF, VCA, phaser) but in the meantime each audio processing module has
to include the distortion feature to be approved by the customers (some
A-100 users may wonder why A-120, A-121 or A-122 do not distort with
standard A-100 levels, it's simply "history").
I will have to look to our prototype box. May be I can find the prototype of
this never published module and resuscitate it (we also had a never
published 12dB filter with two CA30380). I thought we have enough filters.
But who knows .....
