hello guilherme,
no, of course they are not useless then.
there should be enough bbd-chips available as spare parts,
but these are too expensive to use as a base for
a new module. also there are some manufacturers (at least one)
out there who produce new bbd-chips, but afaik these
are only 1024 stages wide, which is ok for chorus or
flanger, but not enough for a delay/reverb.
