I don't have that module, but the manual says the "filter design is
100% analog (CEM chips)", so the SSM chip *may* be to do with the
VCA, as there are several dedicated SSM VCA chips. Adding
complication is that there are dedicated SSM filter chips, e.g.
SSM2044; and there also VCA chips, e.g. SSM2164, which could be used
either to make filters, or be used in the switching between the
filters. Which SSM chip is it exactly If you tell us the actual chip
type, or indeed a complete list of chips in the module (perhaps off-
list), it would be easier to identify their likely functions!
