I was chatting yesterday with none other than Mr. Rex Probe of Sound
Transform Systems, maker of the Serge synth, and commented on the
new, upcoming Doeph KB, which will obviously become a major
competitor for his TKB. He stated that he worries little, since he
doubts the German toy will match the performance specs of his
product. Besides the obvious (i.e. a 64-step sequencer) he does not
think the plates will be as sensitive or responsive to touch as his.
Hmmmmmmm. Mr. Doepfer, please take note. I know somebody already
commented about preferring an obsolete sequencer (or none at all) for
the sake of a high-quality keyboard, and I second that opinion. Let's
make it a sensitive, reliable real-time performance tool (there are
already too many darn step sequencers out there, anyway!!). GIVE US
GOOD, RESPONSIVE TOUCH PLATES, THAT TRIGGER E.G.'S WITH THE SLIGHTEST
CARESS OF THE FINGER!! Pitch bending options are welcome, but you
already make a superb joy stick. Just make the BEST DAMN KEYBOARD OUT
THERE, GUYS!!!
