that is an issue that would be more clear if doepfer would write the
values for the input and output voltage range in their manuals.
seems to me that the cv input needs a voltage longer than a trigger
i.e. spike in order to react, therefore only gates do the job.
because if you used a triangle wave, it would send it into a frenzy.
so try it and see what happens. seems the circuit reacts that way in
order to avoid a fluctuating voltage or a rapidily increasing or
decreasing voltage.
