"we are still about to discuss the front panel
controls and some features, for example
positive/off/negative feedback switch (probably yes)
feedback loop insert (probably yes)
clipping shift control, maybe even voltage controlled
(not yet sure, would allow asymmetric clipping of the
BBDs in addition to the standard clipping that will be
available in any case, we are not yet sure if the
additional sound possibilities justify the additional
controls). The BBD clipping is a bit different from
other clippings (e.g. diode clipping) because of the
special BBD circuitry.
wide range VCO that covers the whole range fom a few
hundred Hz to 200kHz or alternatively VCO with smaller
CV range and an additional range switch (I'd prefer
the wide range VCO as one could go through all clock
frequencier/delay times without range switching, the
drawback is that the VCO will not be exactly 1V/oct
over the whole range)
pre/post feedback mix switch (allows to mix between
BBD output and the original signal before or after the
after the feedback amplifier, in the first case one
will obtain exactly the original signal when the mix
control is ccw, in the second case the feedback signal
will always be present even in the ccw position of the
mix control)
and some more ...
In any case we will not include an anti-aliasing
filter that follows the BBD clock, as this will kill
some of the very strange features of the module. A
high qualitity low pass filter (at least 24dB
required), that follows the BBD clock would probably
double the price that will be in the 100 Euro range so
far (depends a bit of the features and controls that
will be included). If desired one of the already
existing 24 or 48 dB low pass filters or the planned
60 dB SC filter can to this job. Maybe we prepare both
the BBD and the SC filter modules so that the BBD
clock can be used even to drive the SC filter directly
(internal connection between the modules if they are
placed side by side).
I hope I will have time to do some MP3's soon.
Best wishes
Dieter"
