hello martin,
well, to be honest, i don't think that this application
sacrifices another module. after all we speak about a modular
system and it doesn't make much sense to offer a special module
for every task, especially when this task can be accomplished
easily by patching two or three already available modules.
having two separate panners in the system also increases the
versatility, the very reason why modulars are so sexy.
but ... the a134 is built around a cem ic, which is getting
rarer every day. the day will come when dieter has
to do a redesign, so maybe your suggestion is a good
candidate for a future version of the a134.
another thing which would be nice on a redesigned a134
is the capability of panning dc-voltages. the actual
a134 allows panning of audio signals only.
also nice would be, if we could choose between
linear and logarithmic response.
best wishes
ingo
