Hi Charlie,
All my pannels here come from rittal, either direct, or through farnell (which bizzarly, sometimes works out cheaper then going direct )
They do a good range of sizes, and will actually communicate on the phone, if you need to call them, etc.etc.
I think farnell normally does 3 packs of each size (untill they get big) but maybee not. Certainly if you go direct to rittal you can get whatever you want.
EFM -
Efm (website ele4music) is gone. The designer, it seems, has had some personal difficulties, and just dissapeared, after taking the website down completely. A lot of people are upset as there are outstanding orders, which is unfortunate, but i truely believe that there was no intention to con people.
The bonus of efm was that it was do damn cheap (we're talking maybee £3 a pcb - virtually cost price). The boards often had errors and stuff, but there was (before the site vanished) an online forum and stuff, where you could easily find out what was wrong with each board revision.
Anyway...
The other one to look out for, and probably better in many respects, is ken stones stuff (cat girl synth - google for it). Also very cheap, but from a far more stable source, and the few errors are documented by ken himself. The modules are way more esoteric then youll find most other places.
I havent built any yet, but i have an order on the way.
The engraving of my pannles is done by Steve Thomas. I do the CAD and then mail him the file, with the metal work, and he does the CNR on his setup. Ive been exceedingly pleased with the results, and hes really very very good value.
I figure the cost of those modules you see completed in the photo to be probably less then £20 each, maybee less then £15 even, and thats including absolutly evreything. The pots and jack are undoubtably where most of the money goes too...
I think thats all for now.
Youre welcome to mail me if you need any more info.
Julian

Hello Julian,
Hope you don't mind me contacting you off list,, but I had a look at your pictures and noticed you are in the UK, I was wondering which supplier(s) you used for your blanks, I am probably not going to buy a lot at once, so someone who does smallish orders would be good!
by the way I noticed you had a few efm modules are they any good, or more pertinently, are they still around - I can't find anything on the web.
thanks, and sorry again to bother you off list,
charlie

Doepfer plates have a round hole in the top, but if youre not concerned about having them absolutly identical, you can get anodised eurocard blanks from any number of suppliers (what country are you in )
The difference is just the hole.. Youll see 'stretched' holes in other pannels. Heres an example:

Now, if either doeper, or analogue systems used these plates, there would be no compatibility issues. Or, i guess, if theyd just drilled the holes in the same place. But thatlld be too simple.. : (
