Hi Jonathan,
Well, I figured that posting about my mistakes may help someone else from doing the same, and if so then it's worth being up front about it.
And yes, I like to try and report back with results if I can, as I find it really frustrating when you read through a thread only to get to the end and there is no conclusion.
And on that note. I finally finished my Kiwisix this evening. I haven't replaced the spark killer since I saw a post by Tony Oakley on the Yahoo Polysix group saying it doesn't need to be, but I may drop him an email and ask for more details on that.
Other than that, today I cleaned the key contacts. Quite a few keys were playing up, so I unscrewed the keybed PCB, and cleaned the small black carbon pads on the rubber contact strips using a pencil rubber (eraser to our American friends.) I found these had previously been painted with some gold conductive paint which had started flaking off.
I like the idea of the LA Synth Co new rubber strips, but thought I would try the above first, and although its only a few hours in, all the keys are triggering nicely now.
I have also thoroughly enjoyed reading chipaudette's site synthhacker.com has been incredibly informative, and have learned a lot from his detailed work.
Before I forget I just want to say many thanks to everyone for their valuable time and knowledge
I will look at that Panorama mod sometime, but I think that's it for now, so time to start using the Kiwisix and its new features. :)
Cheers for now,
Tim
