Hello,
after having posted my issues with the latest two builds of the Juno board software and reading that other folks get replies while i do not, I finally decided that I will not further invest any time and money in this company.
Here the story:
I bought the upgrades for the Polysix and Juno 106 quite some time ago and on the first day after a little testing of the Polysix some plain obvious bugs occurred.
I reported them and over a few upgrades things were fixed - so far so good.
Much later - I was already a little sceptic - I installed the Juno board and after a successful procedure - fully working - the board software got corrupted by a properly executed update and I had to buy a programmer to fix something that I do not consider broken by my fault.
So far so good again - Mr. Hodge was helpful and I was able to fix the board spending additional 35 Euros and investing further time, only to realize that
in the two last builds of the software the arpeggiator does not work any more as mentioned above - really ?
And why it is still not possible to hear the actual preset while playing notes in the sequencer ?
This is totally unmusical.
Then today I decided to play around with the Polysix that i had not used for a while and after upgrading to the latest build on that board I came across all kind of strange behaviour: saving patches acts strange, settings get lost, the arpeggiator is still slow in response and some other quirks like sounds getting modified while editing stuff like midisettings - why 1 2
It has been a few years now since I started to use the products and I can NOT RECALL A SINGLE TIME HAVING NO PROBLEMS - neither with the Juno, nor the Polysix.
Existing bugs get fixed slowly and new ones come around and as a customer one almost feels uncomfortable reporting them, as if complaining would be inappropriate or a response a matter of luck.
I have spent so much time troubleshooting and experimenting that my worktime long exceeds the value of the products and I even bought myself another Polysix just to have one that works the old way.
I am not a electronic expert but I have over 20 years of experience with synths and products that modify them. I had some factual criticism about Kovari products as I had with products from CHD Elektroservis but with the stuff i bought here it is a different thing - and that means worse.
As a paying customer of something not cheap I do not expect to be an unpayed betatester - especially when products have been available for quite a while already.
And as over time I got to read the issues of other people here I am sure that my customer experience is not a result of coincidence or a deliberate pedantry.
What sounds fun and practical when reading the product specs turns into something differnt when you start to use that stuff - or better try to get what you payed for.
I certainly do not intend this to be unpolite - as facts should not be able to be unpolite anyway - but I wanted to share my considerations after having had another of many frustrating experiences with a Kiwi product today.
Best regards
