I tested all of the listed MIDI CC and NRPN controllers as part of building my Cubase panel.
Found a few issues in the 1.5.3 beta OS:
VCA
- When VCA LFO mod is at high values, previously-played note values will be heard at LFO points over about 115 (might even be lower values, but I didn't want to crank the speakers up higher!)
DCO 2
- LFO source select doesn't work, only uses LFO 1
- ENV source select doesn't work, only uses ENV 1
- Assigning AT to DCO2 has no effect
Modulation Destinations
- Modulation level appears to be a bi-directional setting (0-62 is negative, 64-127 is positive) but the documentation does not reflect that
- DCO Mix parameter has a very mild effect when engaged, regardless of DCO Mix setting and Modulation level -- best I could do was get a small amount of DCO 2 to be added to DCO 1
- VCF LFO Mod has a tiny effect in the positive direction (if Modulation level > 63), no apparent effect in negative direction (if Modulation Level < 63)
- VCF Env. Mod has modest effect, and if the combined level of the mod destination and VCF mod setting is too high, it drops to zero (instead of clamping at maximum)
- VCA Level Mod destination has no effect if main VCA Level is set to 0 (this is not what I would expect)
- DCO Tune Mod destination "DCO 1" affects both DCO 1 and DCO 2
- DCO Tune Mod destination "DCO 2" doesn't do anything
Aftertouch
- Assigning AT to DCO 2 has no effect
- At a center/null value of 63, aftertouch will still deflect pitch negatively for DCO 1
- If AT -> VCA level is on and AT Mod level is high and VCA level is above 64 or so, top levels of AT will drop VCA level to zero. I would expect it to "clamp" at maximum volume
- AT -> VCA LFO on/off does not seem to have any effect, or at least no matter what AT Mod Level I set, it didn't seem to do anything
Dynamic Destinations
- DCO ENV Mod setting does not seem to do anything no matter what velocities are sent or what "dynamics level" is cranked up to (I am assuming "dynamic destinations" means velocity destination?). I am assuming this parameter is supposed to add (or scale?) the effect of the envelope assigned to DCO 1, DCO 2, or both, affecting the pitch. Or if set to MIX, presumably it adjusts the DCO Mix to allow velocity to fade between one or the other?
- VCF ENV mod has modest effect even when Dynamics level is cranked up to the maximum
- There doesn't seem to be a way to make a patch STOP responding to velocity values with DCA/level changes.
Bend Destinations
- "Bend to LFO rate" doesn't seem to do anything regardless of setting.
