Hi from Kiwitechnics
I am deep into version 2 changes at the moment. Most of the coding is done and I am in the initial testing stage. I have tried to incorporate many if not most of the excellent suggested changes that have been discussed here and for the moment the code is locked for new ideas while I try to get this version complete. Changes so far are:-
1) remapped midiCC so that every command is available via CC. This has meant that most CC codes have changed and my apologies to those who have already made patches for other controllers. I will be releasing a PE update at the same time as 3P v2. This shouldn't require further changes (touch wood) and full details will be in the user manual. If you would like the provisional new CC map please contact me directly. I am also dropping NRPN support.
2) Tone storage will increase to 256 from the current 64. This is subject to me not running out of program space. If I do this may have to drop a little. This will be accessed using 'bank sets' on the bank select buttons. pressing any one bank select twice will change the bank set select to the next set (4 in total). Each set will have 4 banks (A-D) of 16 tones.
3) New menu system. The map for this can be downloaded from the News page at Kiwitechnics (
http://kiwitechnics.com/news.htm)
. Please note this is still provisional at this stage. This map also includes the new parameter edit layout. I have dropped the PG-200 look-a-like layout as it is now too hard to fit it all in.
4) A multiple sequence storage system (currently 8)
5) A multiple global pattern storage system (currently 16)
6) An automatic tone update of the 64 current tones to the new format when the v2 is first run. The rest are all set to a blank tone similar to the current C-D factory tone.
7) much wider ranges on envs, chorus speed & LFOs which are now faster than they are now to really really slow. This has meant that the current menu speed select is no longer required.
8) Sense slider controls chorus speed when not editing. The 3P Sense slider has a large degree of 'bit dither' (well my one does) which causes the Chorus speed to be set to the Sense slider setting and overriding the tone setting. To avoid this it is best to put the slider to either end of it's travel when not in use. When I get some time I will look at the hardware and see what can be done to improve this 'feature'.
9) better ranges and 'shapes' on all mod controls to be nearer the original 3P
10) sysex tone dump & load. The sysex format is still being finalised and if it is not ready I will release v2 without this.
11) New user manual to reflect all the other points.
All this has involved extensive changes to every part of the code (over 40,000 lines now) and is going to take a little while to get right.
Kind regards
Murray
