Hi from Kiwitechnics
I have looked at the JX-10/MKS-70 a while back as possible candidates for a rewrite. There is one rather large problem though. It comes in the form of the Roland custom chip (IC2) which Roland call a 'gate array' but is in reality a second CPU. This looks after keyboard scanning and provides the master system clocks. Unless someone has detailed data on this chip the only way I can see to get around this is to redesign the assigner board which will add to the cost. Also the voice board programs will no doubt need rewriting and possibly a different cpu which will add still more cost. These may not be viable candidates but when things quieten a little I will look into it further.
 Regards
 Murray
