The FX board is where most of the noise gets into the output. This board is especially sensitive to airborne noise and the keyboard scan wires are excellent transmitters and run the full length of the FX Board. The keyboard scan noise is also injected into the ground plane under the FX board by the keyboard leg that is touching the ground plane. While some noise will come from the front panel switch scanning it is the lesser of the interferences. The ground additions I suggest should make a big difference especially the extra one on the FX board. In addition you should isolate the keyboard mounting leg that touches the ground plane. The best way to do this is cut out a square around the leg and remove the foil. My results for doing this has been dramatic and has made the P6 a very usable synth.

Is everyone aware of the noise reduction mod that entails making a shield to go between the control panel boards and the chorus/effects board? I can post details if needed
