Hi Murray
,
thank you for this update and sorry to moan since it seems you spent a lot of time on thi JD990 patch, but since you are not very active in adding new synths to the PE library, why add a rompler when there are great analogue or early digital SYNTHs still craving for a patch?
Just to name a few:
-Marion Systems MSR2/Prosynth (I sent you the sysex charts that Tom Oberheim provided two years ago)
-Mutable Instruments Shruthi synths (with the various filter cards) : a perfect candidate for the PE
-DSI Evolver desktop
-Yamaha DX/TX7/TX 216/816 (you jokingly refer us to the hyper-rare and ultra-expensive Jellinghaus Programmer in the PE manual, but since you're doing a 10-page patch for a rompler, you could do one for the DX7 : it's a much more worthy candidate and that would be really useful).
Also, what about the PE programmer you were talking about 2-3 years ago also? I saw that Soundquest added the Kiwi upgrades to their Midiquest: will they be developing the PE programmer as well? That would be great in order to allow the users to edit the patches, delete the ones they don't use, make new ones and share them here.
Sorry, I don't be mean to sound unpleasant, but I don't understand your development policy concerning the PE (which is a wonderful tool).
Alex.
Hi all
Version 5.3 for the PE has been put in the PE files folder. This version has the Roland JD990 added. This is a very complex synth and has more controls than it is possible to put on the PE. The JD990 patch has been split into two patches, one covering the FX options (two pages) and the other covering the 4 patch Tones (each 2 pages). That is a total of 10 PE patch pages. I have put controls as logically as I can but as I do not use this synth there may well be a better way to place controls and also if I have missed something essential please let me know.
