I do not believe this to be a Kiwi3P buffer overload for a few reasons.

1) the K3P is very efficient at processing midi and should keep up with any incoming stream
2) if the buffer was to overflow then the k3P would start dropping random parts of midi messages as it would have no place to store them. This would corrupt the messages in memory and would cause some rather random weirdness,
3) if the same thing is being tried in other software with no issues then it must be ableton.

I do not use this or the other systems mentioned so cannot advise on their operation.

I have an old Ableton Live installation somewhere, but I don't use it
usually. If I follow your description, then this is more likely an
overload of the MIDI-Line by pure amount of data. This might cause a
buffer overflow in the KIWI-3Ps processor. Murray may jump in and tell
us how large the MIDI Buffer of the 3P is.

You may reproduce this by playing such a "drawn" controller stream at an
extreme low tempo (20 bpm). If the problem does not appeare here, then
we have most likely a buffer overflow.
