I'll be darned! It worked!
I never thought there would be digitized versions of the old cassette tape "data / noise". I burned the .wav files to an audio cd, played it and apparently every patch loads fine (I didn't try all of them just because the overacker page has a lot of libraries).
Thanks to Mark and to all who suggested fixes -unfortunately, I never got the synth to recognize any sysex command (early OS maybe
) but the audio files did the trick.

I understand it's a slow and backwards way to do patch programming, but the alternative is to not use the synth at all.
