Hello
I'm not an Oberheim expert or anything,
but I use one of the black 1000's onstage every night.
It's in my rack with a few other things.
(yes, it's been rebuilt, but original firmware chip)
and I've just purchased another non funtioning black one.
I have heard of this "crashing" thing LOTS when using one of the various
ED/LIB's you can find online, and I have always heard the same answer.
It crashes with apple,
any
apple.
And that's that. From every article, message board, and forum
I could find so far, it's the same story.
EVEN if you are booted up in some type of XP mode.
The EASY solution I've read about is pretty much what I use.
"Acquire" an older cheapo laptop doesn't have 2 B at all fast,
from eBay or elsewhere, and try XP. If that one doesnt work for you,
then one must acquire and old cheapo copy of WIN98.
I use an old IBM T-42,(got that for 90.00 USD on eBay)
and WIN98 that my mum had lying around from days gone by,
and use it exclusively to edit or add sounds (patches)
to my M 1000 with Matrix 2001, and my TX-802.
(actually, if I'm really bored at rehearsal sometimes ,
I watch CSI Miami FLV files on it propped up on my top keyboard... LOL!!!)
I've NEVER had a crash when using that combination.
My other gear is much more current and works with my everyday
laptop & Windows 7.
I would think some genius out there has a workaround this apple problem,
but I've never read or heard of it.
As for that Jsynth.lib, I know I just saw that to download somewhere on
one of the Oberheim pages out there. Someone uploaded
an old copy they had found on their hard drive I think.
I will actually take a few minutes this weekend and see if I have
that one on of my memory sticks. I think I remember downloading
it late one night. But I could B wrong. If I find it, I'll put it in the files section.
Did you already check the files section
My question 2 U is:
I've seen that demo for the OB 6000 software
and went to their site and saw the 40.00 price.
Is it worth the money over the free ones
Does it have a lot more features or animated graphics or something
Or are you just using the static demo like I have
see ya...
