from what I see on ebay the wide body type cem is much cheaper.
for install you have to stretch the legs with solder ,the two type of Ic are identical
so I think there is no reason to have difference in the voices...I have also a M6 and M6r
Hello Martin!wow, that is really good news for Matrix 1000 owners.Ive never heard of anyone ever trying that before.and there is no difference in the voicesthat should make a lot of OBERHEIM fans happy!

a technician friend of mine put two Cem wide body in my M1000 and they work good exactly the sameas the narrow type if can be of any interestMartin
