I meant I added a second Matrix for the other audio channel, doubled the polyphony and made layered sounds possible too. At the time it was reasonably cheap, less than £200, compared to the OB8 I sold for £1000, which obviously had 8 voices panned out in stereo, which I preferred.
I got acces to lots of gear while I was repairing it and had the chance to try layered synths, which is an amazing efffect.
Howard Jones was big on this, and probably there were others doing it too. Analog synths lend themselves to this better than the later series I think.
The Matrix and the Xpander go very well together, but the Xpander layered with the OBXa didn't do anything for me.
The OB8 and the OBXa weren't as good as 2 OBXa.
By the time I saw my first Memorymoog, all the other stuff was gone, so a missed opportunity there.
I thought I might add separate outs from the Matrix, and use a Simmons 8-2 rack mixer which has an auto pan for each channel, but I got side-tracked.
Digital reverb became generally available, and made everything sound wider anyway, if that's what though we wanted. Chorus got quieter too.
I stuck with tape machines as I needed them for guitar and vocals anyway, and tracked the synths early on and bounced down. Ah the bad old days.
This might be a distasteful suggestion to the purists, but I now use the K2500 now which does some very nice OBXa, OB8 Matrix and Memorymoog sounds right out of the box. No shortage of polyphony, and the kdfx if you have one really makes a difference. But I digress.
I still have the Matrix 6, and the OBXa is still in repair.

Yes M1000 one only out.
I think its a bug of the M6-M6r os,would be great if someone could make a new eprom version
to solve all these software problems. A new eprom system exist for M1000

Hi Martin,
I recently bought a M6r and on page 11 in the manual it says that you have to set param 56 in Master mode to Stereo "ON" and then the right jack will output the upper sound in Split mode. Have not tried it myself as I only have one input to spare for the M6r.

My bad it was actually on page 10
"When stereo is set to on, the left/mono jack outputs all sounds from single patches and the sound from the lower patch when in split mode; the right jack only outputs sound when in SPLIT mode, and this sound comes from the upper patch"
Thanks and sorry I just downloaded the manual from the files area,
Jason

Well, have you read the owner's manual
Everything about the outputs is explained on page 8.
