Hello group,
Some of you may know about two of my previous software applications, MC-202 Hack and MC-4 Hack, where I reverse-engineered the Roland tape save format for those two sequencers to allow for conversion of MIDI files into the audio "squelch" required to program them. See the Defective Records link in my .sig for much more detail.
Well, I am now well into work on the same type of thing for the Oberheim DSX. One challenge is that I only have a DSX, and not an OB keyboard that I can use to program sequences into it, which I need to do in order to reverse engineer the code correctly.
So - I am looking for people who have BOTH a DSX as well as a suitable Oberheim keyboard to be able to program specific short sequences into the DSX, save them to audio file (via the DSX cassette output), and send me those audio files via email. Your DSX needs to have the latest OS, version 3.04 (or any version 3 actually).
I already have a few people helping me, but at the moment my rate-limiting step is getting faster turnaround for these sequence dumps, so having a few more people assisting will help tremendously. If you do help, you will get a free copy of the software when it's done, as well as acknowledgment for your involvement in the documentation.
Please get in touch via email if interested!
Thanks,
Dan
