Interesting problem. With a scope you could set it to trigger if the supply dips a little,
And see which supply is dipping. If the dips last long enough, assuming they are dips, then a multimeter may be able to show them as well. You could recap the supply, but that may not fix the problem. What if one of the voltage regulators is flaky The display uses a separate winding off of the power transformer to create the high voltage that it needs. Seems like that voltage is dropping out, maybe. Or some other display issue. If the cpu voltage was dropping, seems like it might crash, which would look very different. It wouldnt come right back as it does in your video. Maybe the 5v analog suppply is dipping Best to try to figure out which one, then just fix that one. Bob |
I've been having this problem with my Matrix 6 for a while where the screen flickers on and off and when I am playing the synth and this happens, the sound goes in and out too. Its been seeming to get a lot worse recently and I need to figure out a way to fix it! Im going on tour in a few weeks and this is my main synth on stage.. here is a video example of what is happening. Its kinda hard to tell that the sound is cutting in and out too when the screen flickers, but trust me, it does. And it is very annoying, especially during important parts of songs!
It seems like a power supply issue, so what should i do next to fix it I was thinking recapping the PS. Ive never done that to a synth, but I do lots of other electronic work so Im guessing it shouldnt be that hard if i get the right parts. Is there a way to tell for sure if the capacitors are bad or not
thank you for any help you can provide!!
