Hi All,
Long time lurker I now have my hands on a dysfunctional matrix-6r that I need advice on.
Status of the unit.
There's absolutely no lights or display coming on when I power it on
Opening the box up and measuring all the voltages at J3 they are for the most part within 200mV range as listed by the service manual.
The display has 2 'burn' marks within it on the top left and right corners but I don't know if this is normal for this type of display or they just confirm that there's still a vacuum present.
There has been some prior work on the box from what I can see and I can't see the -42V test point on the back of the display board that is described in the service manual.
The internal battery is still registering approx +3volts but is soldered to the board and sadly when trying to slip the probe underneath one of the connections snapped:/
It still has the original rom chip (matrix-6R 2.13) and I have not tried to move any chips.
There's continuity on the intake fuse and the fuse for the display board so I don't think they are blown.
I have the latest tauntek ROM but haven't tried to install it yet.
Questions:
Where do I find higher resolutions schematics
All of those that I have found so far seem to be very low res.
The unit has been plugged in the whole time, does anyone know if the patches in memory are savable or are they totally dependent on the battery
If I need rebuild the power supply is there a known good replacement for the power transformer
If somebody has some obvious starting points or known pinout values for the chips that I can test with the scope would be really helpful as this is the biggest thing I have worked on so far.
I build my own DIY synth projects and do the odd repair of electric pianos for musician friends so I'm at the stage where I know just enough to be really dangerous:) but would really like to get it working as these unit's have really got 'something' when they work.
'Best,
Chris
