Well done, but it's not a common problem. If putting
sockets on, the ones that last 20 years are turned
pin, best use low profile for baords that are close.
The later boards are very well made and hard to
damage. This isn't true of most stuff made since then,
so don't try it on your Triton (no offence lovely
Triton, but you rhymed: anything from the last 15
years is similar). These days plated through holes are
more fragile and everything's tiny.. even with the
magnifier and the glasses.
The mod I liked was the zif socket for the sample
EPROM on the MKII Tom/Kick
Snare/Perc card, but only
one brand of socket actually fitted in the space.
Come to think of it the LM1 Hihat was the biggest
improvement, especially aphexed and Orban EQ'd. The
layered ElKick and Linndrum Kick was good
too............. I got lost back there just before
sampling got affordable.
Have fun with the DMX, I don't think we saw anything
better (in fixed tuning non-velocity 80's land).
