yes. i connected all the power and ground connections together and
powered them from (i think) pin 28 of IC35, which is 5 volts. any
spot on the board that measures 5 volts should work i think. this mod
is absolutely bomb and i highly recommend it, though i just want to
restate that the clock input pins that you have to disconnect from
the circuit board are extremely small and probably fragile, so be
very careful not to break them off, or no more snare or whatever.
they're also really close together and hard to solder to without
getting solder all over the whole mess. you probably have a better
soldering iron than my radio shack one with the worn down tip, so
maybe you'll have a better time with it. i would definitely build and
test all the 555s before scraping at the clock inputs. another thing
i forgot is that the ride/crash clock input is not the same, i'm
pretty sure it's pin 5 of IC25. you'll have to scrape the circuit
board trace to disconnect the original clock signal. again, once i
made sure everything was working i encased the whole clock input pin
section in hot glue to keep it them from bending and breaking.
if you want more of a chaotic/interesting sound you could build the
555s (or just one or however many you want) and try connecting them
to the pins without scraping them off the board. you get crazy
pitchshifting as well as really great tones, all controllable with
the 555 knob.
good luck, and definitely let me know if you have any problems and
i'll see if i can figure it out.
hey wait are you viki hott
i enjoyed your show at the hemlock in sf.
whats that label that you were on
i really liked that website, and
yours too. is it still up
i had trouble finding it recently.
later,
greg
