Yes, those are beautiful guts! I found some of these conections myself, which
restored the crash and ride cymbals. The hats VCA is slightly broken... the
open/closed selector pulse gets there, but all hats sound open. I opted to just
leave as is so the PCB doesn't suffer any more (lots of repairs prior to bends).
I did manage to make a better closed hat than the original, but it is switched
instead of gated. Also I connected a wire from the hats clock to the VCA outout
which has the effect of an envelope-controlled pitch bend.

I was wanting to do something similar, but I don't yet have drill bits fine
enough, so I glued wire to the top of the gate IC and connected to the (now
isolated) pads.
I put decay pots on the ride and crash voices, and did extensive SRAM
switching between them. Each gets a 12-position rotary switched from its pin
27. Results in lots of weird FM percussion and reverb/ flange effects.
There are toggles I installed for FM of the 555 clocks (pin 3 output to pin 5
input), and to combine frequency pots on a given clock. Friday I will try to
finish the mods and put it all back together. Trying to decide about whether or
not to put trigger outs as well! More pics and details this weekend.
