mike,
the batteries are only for memory backup, they will not power the
drum machine. i suggest replacing the power adapter. just get one
that outputs 12 volts DC and make sure the polarity is correct. if
you accidentally try one with the wrong polarity, it shouldn't
damage it, it just won't work. you can tell the polarity by looking
at the adapter and seeing if the little symbol is the same as the
707's. the difference will be whether the + or - is inside the
center circle.
