Hey guys,
I have recently acquired a TR-707 that I'm trying to bring back to life.
I have replaced the power socket as the plug was really loose when connected and was loosing contact.
However there appears to be some thing else not quite right, most likely to do with the power supply.
The 707 turned on for approximately 2 minutes and I was able to audition sounds, then suddenly it powered off and I was unable to get the device to turn back on. This has happened on two separate occasions.
I read on a forum post (http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php f=5&t=54250) that there was a know issue with the fusible resistor R49. Maschinengeist for VSE suggests to replace it with 1/2 w 2.7 ohm resistor.
When testing the resistance of R49 using my multimeter I'm getting a reading of 8 ohms. It should be 2.7 Ohms right
Does this mean this resistor is cooked and could it be the culprit of my power supply issue
I tried searching for a replacement resistor but it appears pretty difficult to find a 2.7 Ohm fusible resistor online, is there a similar part the would be suitable
Any contribution or assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
J
