Hey Phil. I have a 707 that also had a dead LCD.  The circuit board has multiple layers. The internal layer on mine had an open circuit between IC11 and the F1 connector. Anyways, double check around there on yours if you haven't already done so. I know I missed the bad connection the first time on mine (it may have been intermittent).
