Well, if one replaces the processor, one will have to rewrite all
functions of the 707 OS. Its not possible (AFAIK) to extract the OS
from the MCU since its read-protected, and anyway, that processor is
obsolete and slow.
I probably won't ever have time for this kind of project, but since
this is a 707 list, we can all dream can't we
:-) So post your
improvement ideas everybody! :-)
However, I'm thinking more and more that it really would be easier to
just build a new drummachine from scratch :-( Especially with todays
fast microcontrollers where you could probably do all the sample
playback in the controller itself.
BTW, surely somebody must have run a datalogger on the 707 CPU pins
