I can attest to both cases.  The 707 is a bit pricey for a first time circuit bend.  If you mess up, 450 euros is (at least to me) nothing to sneeze at.  The 707 has some good bends as far as pitch for each drum and has the luxury of having faders for each drum sound already there and is a classic to boot :)  Lots of room inside for mounting bends.

 

The 505 is a great first time bender :)  There are a LOT of documented bends on burnkit2600 and circuitbenders.co.uk.  It is a fun machine and is easy to program.  I have bent several of these over the years.  You will want an LTC1799  oscillator for the pitch crystal.  The bends themselves mainly consist of scrambling the data lines with the lil drum beat snippets in them so you get weird or syncopated rhythms.  Some good distortion and such as well as volume outs for each drum iirc.  The only caveat is there is not much room insi de the 505 to mount bends, so you may want an external case for controls etc.  I have shoehorned things in the body though as well.

 

I would also like to mention the Yamaha RX-8.  It is an odd duck but pretty much Yam's answer to the 505.  It is easy to program and super easy to circuit bend.  Probably the same price as a 505 minus 10 bux or so.  These bend well and have great squelchy FM modulations.  I have one with a 21 point patch bay that plugs into the machine with an LPT printer cable.  Backlit display as well.

I have my eyes also on a TR-505 which also seem very suitable for circuit bending. Their price is significantly better though,

I think the price is in the upper half of the normal range. But it is ok.

I always use ebay and search for "sold listings" and "Europe" as region, to get a price overview.
