I talked about posting pics of these months ago, but had no editor to shrink the JPGs with.
Now they are a bit smaller, if I can redo them better then I will. There is a new photo
album called "CJ-unit" where these can be seen.
These pics are >mostly< how my 707 is today. I redid the clocks a bit, a couple of caps
and resistors have been changed. It was very difficult to fit the case back together with all
of the wire bundles; ironically, two days later I bought a few hundred feet of 26AWG
stranded wire which would have made things much, much easier!
The knobs on the top-right are ride and cymbal decay, the two knobs near the bottom-
right are PCM mods. The knobs along the bottom are pots for the clock control. There are
a few toggles there for changing values for some of the clocks. The knobs at the top-left
are hat decay pots. Beneath those are toggle switches for applying a drum's envelope
signal to its clock, for a psuedo-voltage-control. Then there are a few toggles which effect
the hat gating.
My impressions of my 707
Not bad! The way I did the controls was very twitchy, I wish I
had more patience in making clocks for those. The gate wiring was so fragile that I was
terrified to keep the unit open for too long. There is often a bit of high-frequency noise
from the clocks, which comes through the audio circuitry. This can be reduced by favoring
certain clock ranges. There were many more mods which I wanted to do, but which I could
not fit in there.
It is a lot more expressive then it was before!
