I am sure that Gregory will be back, he is a "die-hard" 707 fanatic! I have experimented
with this a little bit, but never decided what was the >exact< best place to derive the
triggers from. I could work it out, but my fear of damaging my very stuffed 707 mods
hinders me somewhat. The trigger mods won't hurt your 707, but I've done a bit of fine
wiring in there - especially around the Gate IC - which I don't want to re-do.
Another thing holding me back is that I haven't decided how I'd do the trigger outputs.
One 9-pin DSub connector, or several 1/8" jacks
A bunch of 1/8"-to1/4" cables would be
useful at times, and is not too obscure if I need them in a pinch. A DB9 connector is more
elegant spacewise, but how to interface it
Put DB9 connectors on the rest of my drum
synths, or make funky DB9-1/4" breakout cables
Then there is the heretical notion of
making my trigger sequencer with (gasp!) a TR-626 …
I am cleaning off my garage workbench this week, so if I can get over these indecisions, I
might go for it and do the 707 trigger circuits. Oh yeah, also wondering if I should put
pots for adjustable pulse width - but that is kind of an extra for now.
Good luck with your mods!
