if i remember correctly,
707 as master:

-turn on both machines.
-on the 727, hold "shift" and press "sync mode" so that the display
says "n" instead of displaying the tempo.
-hook a midi cable from the midi out jack of the 707 to the midi in
jack of the 727.
-put the machines in whatever mode you want (pattern play, pattern
write, etc)
-press play on the 707.
