Uhm, no. You can use a power supply with as high a current rating as
you like. As long as the voltage rating is correct, current doesn't
matter as long as it's "enough" - and on that, 300mA doesn't really
sound like enough for a TR707.
As an aside, I run all my 9V-ish "wall wart" stuff off a 10V, 8A PSU
which lives in the bottom of my rack.
