After 1 evening with my new 112 sampler module, I am completely frustrated.
I am finding it VERY obscure to use, with seemingly random functionality and
an INCREDIBLY distorted sound.
Now I know that it is 8 bit and all, but I have owned 8bit samplers in the
past, and this is NOT just simple aliasing, infact I MISS the 8bit quality
to my old Amiga sampler!! So I am guessing the fault lies with me. Then it
would seem to be a question of input impedance. For testing I am using an
old radio, plugged in to the 112 input which then goes to a mixer, where i
also have clean radio sound (to compare what I am sampling). ANYTHING on the
sampler channel is seriously distorted, like Merzbow plays Moterhead. Making
even simple speech unrecognizable, or at least unlistenable.
How can I get better results
As to the operation of the module... I know... I know... "Read the manual"
but I have and it lacks a simple "How to" section. Like in normal operation
(without loading from computer) if I want to sample an input (say a mike...
or radio ... or (as I was thinking... quicker and more convenient than
computer... an mp3 player)) ... grab a sample, and have it immediately be
triggered by a gate or trigger... how do I do this Do I press the little
button to grab the sample or does the gate do it does that mean I must
stop any gate triggering sequencer before and after...(making it useless for
live improv stuff) HELP!!!! All suggestions welcome, can you draw some
patches for me, or take me thru a typical button press routine
Thanks guys!!!
bit disappointed
