Can't remember if I've posted here before - I've been lurking for a long time, so I think it's about time I said hello.
Just before Xmas I bought myself an A111-5 mini synth, along with the A190-2 Midi to CV module - I'm amazed at the versatility of this tiny synth. I've heard a few demos, mostly acid type bleeps & blips; no problem with that, I enjoyed hearing them, but I wanted to know if it could do fatter old school type of sounds, ...and it can!! Some of the pots seem a bit twitchy and need very careful setting up. There are some great simple patches to be had, such as using LFO1 as a drone. Feeding the LFO1 output into the ext audio input, and playing a big fat lead with a long release time over the top, is way too much fun - the long release is obviously needed so that you can still hear the drone, ...and it stays in tune too! I wanted to see what I could achieve with the just the A190-2 and the A111-5; of course, if you use an attenuator on the LFO1 output, then you can then get the relative VCO lead/LFO1 drone level just right. Usually more modules = more fun, but sometimes less is more.
The mock-up pic of the Dark Time looks promising, as does the new DIY stuff which is shown in the NAMM_news_2010.pdf ;-)
Cheers,
Ralph
