Did you follow up the suggestions about the jumpers
on the pcb
I can reproduce your problem on my DE, but it's
very quiet compared to the normal functioning of the synth.
I'd be tempted to put it down to cross
talk in the circuitry, just a bit of the voltage
from the oscillator breaking through into other parts
of the circuit.
On my DE, if I set the filter with
Freq=10,
Res=0,
then the oscillator breakthrough isn't any
louder than the background hiss of the circuit.
Turning the oscillator on to it's low octave helps.
Did you try increasing the amount of external signal
