Hi Raul
Here's how I see it.
First: Modulation of the N CV will just vary the number of possibilities of the output voltages at N+1 and 2^N, not modulate the voltages themselves. At N=1 you have 2 possible voltages at the outputs. At N=6 you have 7 possible voltages at N+1 and 64 at 2^N.Feeding a slow triangle LFO into the CV N while sending in a more rapid clock pulse should have the effect of moving from a fairly stable state when N is low (fewer *different* potential voltages available at the outputs) to more chaotic with higher values of N (many *different* potential voltages at the outputs). You'll hear this when the outputs (particularly n^2) are patched to the CV in of your VCO. Without the fast clock this effect will be much more subtle, but with a fast clock you'll hear the difference as n moves from 'tightly restrained' to 'free to have wild, sexy fun'.
Second: From page 3 of the manual, "The final value of N is the sum of the manual control and the external (attenuated) control voltage applied to input", so yes, attenuated CV N and Man N are summed.
Hope this is somewhere near what actually happens and that this helps.
Cheers
Rich
First:
The manual states that "N is an integer number in the range 1...6 that can be adjusted with the manual control (Man N) and an external control voltage CVN with attenuator."
The CV fed into the CV N in is triggered every time a clock signal is received, I've gleamed that much.
But how is the dial supposed to effect the output at N+1 when a cv is plugged in. I was expecting more or less audible modulation to the parameter but have yet to achieve this.
I have tried plugging in a sine, triangle, and saw wave into the CV N in and brought the CV N attenuator up and down and experience very little effect.
Can anyone think of a valid test for me to get familiar with how this is supposed to effect the output at N+1
Am I missing something
Second:
If a CV is plugged into the CV N is the Man N dial bypassed. This is what I was expecting, but the Man N dial seems to adjust the octaves where the random notes fall. even when a CV is plugged into the CV N in.
So does this mean the CV N in and the Man N are summed
Thanks for any clarity with this.
Raul
