Stefan,
My experiences with Doepfer and equivalent modern modules are as
follows, it probably mirrors most other users:
Purchased a basic system. this was because I'd sold my old Digisound
system and I realised it was cheaper to buy a A100 than try and buy an
equivalent older system. Also there were the benefits of warranty etc.
After about 8 months I was getting frustrated because I wanted
additional basic modules, a VC LFO and another envelope. So purchased
another rack with a couple of modules. Added a A155 & A156 to give me
some sequencing and before I knew it that rack was almost full and
Doepfer had some new modules I wanted to buy, plus some of the older
ones I'd not got.
The G6 was and is quite expensive but I have always loved the idea of a
Moog 55 or Roland 700 system, so I decided to build a studio rack rather
than get more G6's.
I now have 30U in the two studio racks (see photo) plus I have a G6
which is half full. I kept one G6 for expansion and extra modules
between building additional studio cases, works rather well.
This modular thing is a major money pit if you let it be, I'm not as
unhappy with that as my partner, but as the song goes "Music was my
first love"

Subject: 1 How shall i start a big A100-System
Hello,
i dream of a big modular system. I know, if i start with one of
the
basic-systems from doepfer the modular wall will grow and grow,
and
that is exactly what i want.I allready own Schaltwerk and
MAQ16/3 and
a Voyager.
I would like also to make experiments with a vocoder, the
trautonium
and the new 101 modules are looking also exciting.
So their expansion systems looking good to me, but isn't it
better to
order one by one and build in by myself If i have the money i
would
like to order them all at once, but this is too much...
Anyway, what do you think, should step in and make use also of
these
Doepfer - Racks, or is maybe better to build up one own wooden
rack
where space is available
