I got the A-107, A-196 and A-111 this past weekend as well.
I simply want to say THANK YOU!
The A-107's new filters are great! (as well as the more conventional
ones). Combined with that amp pot they are all right down and dirty
+ have bags of character. Great thing for the type of muci I am into.
The A-196 is also great. It simply makes the A-100 sound like an
entirely different synth. I haven't sussed out excatly how it works
and what it is doing, but when it sounds like that who cares! Just
crazy, rich sounds that cut right through and stay in tune!
The A-111 was the module I was a bit dissapointed with. I simply
thought I'd be getting a better sounding VCO at that (higher) price,
when I only got a few extra features I could do without.
Anyway, the A-111 sounds slightly different than the A-110, but
unfortunately I can not get the same sound out the A-111 when
modulating the synced (slave) VCO with a slowish ADSR to get that
nice sync sweep (ala P5) patch...it simply does not sound as good as
when using A-110 VCOs only. It's got a stronger output than the A-
110 though, so it is not all bad.
Thanks again Dieter for the lovely modules you are providing us
with. The latest 12" I've done that involved only Doepfer synth
sounds (and one MonPoly polyphonic patch) reached #2 in DJMag's
Beats & Breaks Charts. It's getting air time in UK's BBC Radio 1 and
Kiss FM (aklong with other smaller stations) and I have had loads of
people asking me what are those great synths that I've been using
and whether they can get the same sounds using soft synths...e he he
he :-)
Peace out.
