Hi Joost,
The noise ring is quit unique. I'm not sure how you would create it
from doepfer modules. In some ways it is similar to the A-149-1
(which by the way I also own and is a great module in it's own right)
in that it has N+1 states and 2n states at output. The noise ring is
just a completely strange random source that can also be used as a
grungy oscillator that almost seems to track 1v per octave CV. It
create a variable loop of random voltages. The degree of randomness
is set by the front knobs. At times it sounds like a sequencer
looped, then noise, then an oscillator, then trickling water. It's
crazy. I like using the clock output of the noise ring as my master
clock for super strange timbral shifting sequences. And then I use
the outputs and inversion of those outputs to drive the CV inputs of
other modules. Personally, I feel you cannot go wrong with Wiard
modules. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying buy Wiard instead of
Doepfer, I'm saying add some Wiard to your rig. You wont be sorry.
